Code Enforcement & Planning Board Changes
As you may be aware, on July 1st Anjelica Pittman will move into the Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) and Licensed Plumbing Inspector (LPI) position for the Town of Readfield. Angelica will begin her work as a fully certified CEO/LPI, and with extensive field and office experience as we have been working toward this point for several months and she has supported land use related services since starting with the town almost five years ago. We want to thank Chip Stephens for his service to the Town of Readfield as the outgoing CEO/LPI. In conjunction with this transition we are making a few operational changes.
Beginning July 1st, Planning Board meetings will move to Wednesday evenings to provide a more cohesive process. Wednesday evening meetings allow for a more direct connection between scheduled staff time and Planning Board meetings. The baseline meeting schedule will move to the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month (from Tuesday of the same weeks) The schedule will continue to be responsive to the availability of applicants and Board members, holidays, weather events, and other factors so be aware that changes may occur. The Planning Board can be reached at [email protected], or through the CEO.
We are seeking to find more efficiency with the CEO schedule as well. We will maintain the same approximate hours of work - Monday 8:30-4:30, Wednesday 10:00-6:00, and Friday 7:30-3:30, but make a few key allocation adjustments (also beginning July 1st). The CEO will have dedicated office hours (guaranteed to be in the office, but not guaranteed to be available without an appointment) from 9am to noon Monday and Friday. From 12-4 on Wednesdays the CEO will be booked for dedicated administrative work and generally unavailable. Outside of these times the CEO may be in the office or may be out in the field for inspections, as is currently the case. Scheduling an appointment will remain the best way to engage with the CEO. As a reminder, we offset the cost of our CEO services by splitting time with the Town of Wayne (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and the CEO will only perform work for either town on the days they are scheduled. A final change in Readfield is moving the Code Enforcement and Assessing Office to the main lobby area, which will happen by the end of July. The CEO can be reached via email at [email protected], the main office line at 685-4939, or on mobile at 931-7689.
These changes should help improve land use related services by introducing more continuity and efficiency. Thank you for your support and understanding.
