Transfer Station

Please take notice - NEW Transfer Station Hours - Effective October 15, 2025

Welcome to the Readfield Transfer Station.  We serve the Towns of Fayette, Readfield, and Wayne.  Please take note of the following points and direct any questions to Karen Peterson, Transfer Station Manager or ask one of our attendants on site:

• All vehicles are required to stop at the Attendant Booth for instructions unless waived through by an attendant. Thank you!
• Permit stickers are required to be affixed to the windshield of your vehicle - they are free and for Readfield residents also serve as the Town Beach pass!  Proof of property ownership and/or residency is required to obtain a permit sticker. Permit stickers are available at your Town Office and the Transfer Station. Thank you!
• Bagged household waste and recycling are collected at no cost.  Most other items have a fee.  See an attendant before dropping anything off. 
• Recycling is mandatory (and easy).
• Check out the ecomaine RECYCLOPEDIA ! It's your one-stop shop for recycling and waste-handling answers!
• Take a VIRTUAL TOUR of the ecomaine recycling facility!  It's an amazing process!
