Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Pre-registration at your Town Office is required!

2026 Registration Form available at the Readfield Town Office and Transfer Station

Complete the HazMat Registration Form to get an appointment time - must complete the form to get an appointment time.

What to Bring:

• All Battery Types
• Unwanted mixed and unmixed fuels. (Gasoline, Diesel, Kerosene, etc.)
• Household cleaners, chemicals (antifreeze) and pesticides.
• Fluorescent bulbs (CFL’s)

What NOT to Bring:

• Explosives & Ammunition
• Recyclable Items (Cardboard, all Plastics #1- 7, Glass, Metal, Aluminum)
• Solid Waste/Trash
• TV’s, Computers, and other Electronic Waste
• Textiles (Clothing, Shoes, Bags, Bedding, etc.)
• Asbestos Containing Materials
• Commercial waste or waste from a business
• Paint - ONLY paint containers with NO original labels will be accepted at this event. Your Transfer Station accepts latex paint and oil-based paint in their original containers anytime for FREE
• Unused or Unwanted Pharmaceuticals  
• More than 3 units of HHW (see below for details, prior approval and fees required). Call Karen at the Readfield Transfer Station (207) 685-3144 to make arrangements.

IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION

• You will be assigned a time to arrive at the Transfer Station. DO NOT arrive early or you will be required to wait.
• Waste containers, boxes or bins, with the exception of gas cans, WILL NOT be returned.
• One unit of waste equals 5 gallons, 20 pounds, or a combination of the two.
• Limit of "three for free".  (prior approval and fees required for additional units of waste).
